About the exhibition
The permanent exhibition of the Kazanlak Art Gallery includes only a small part of the most significant works stored in its repositories. It is a visual narrative of the main phenomena in Bulgarian visual art over the past two centuries, featuring its brightest representatives and the contribution of Kazanlak and the region to the artistic processes in the country.
The permanent exhibition of the gallery is displayed in four halls and a foyer, showcasing 266 paintings and sculptures selected from the institution’s collection. It includes a collection of 57 icons (17th – 20th century); 95 works by 59 artists associated with Kazanlak (Petko Klisurov, Ivan Valchanov, Ivan Enchev – Vidyu, Zahari Zhelev, Ivan Milev, Ivan Penkov, Dimitar Chorbadzhiyski – Chudomir, Mara Chorbadzhiyska, Stanyu Stamatov, Dechko Uzunov, Nenko Balkanski, Konstantin Tringov, Vasil Barakov, Hristo Pesev, Mara Yosifova, and others). Also presented are 171 works by 88 prominent Bulgarian brush masters such as Ivan Markvichka, Nikola Kozhuharov, Stefan Ivanov, Boris Denev, Zlatyu Boyadzhiev, Tsanko Lavrenov, Vladimir Dimitrov – The Master, Vasil Stoilov, Iliya Petrov, Kiril Tsonev, Bencho Obreshkov, Alexander Petrov, Dimitar Kazakov – Neron, as well as sculptors Alexander Andreev, Zheko Spiridonov, Andrey Nikolov, Anastas Dudulov, Petar Ramadanov, Ivan Lazarov, and others.
